Christmas Baking with Kids- Free apron patterns!

We are so happy to have our friend Laura from Ellie Inspired visiting the blog today! Thank you Laura for this wonderful post.

Today I am happy to be part of Create Kids Couture’s Christmas Tutorials!

Baking with kids is always fun around Christmastime. In my free patterns, I have a boys’ simple apron and I have a girl’s little hostess apron. I decided to feature the girl’s apron today and whip up a cute little matching doll apron.

A cute little hostess apron with a heart pocket that fits sizes 1-8. Simple and quick. You can make one of these in a half hour.

Christmas Countdown Blocks

Hello there, my name is Melissa. I am the owner of Three Dutch Divas. I usually spend my time designing and creating princess and character inspired aprons, dresses and of course beautiful children' s clothing made from CKC patterns!  Sewing new items for my shop is my passion,  however this time of year brings out the crafter in me!
If you have children in the house and they are anything like mine, I'm sure they were asking how far away Christmas was before you finished clearing the Turkey off of the Thanksgiving table! I have spent days answering the question "MOMMY, how many days is it until Christmas?"  I have come up with a fun and decorative answer to that question!!

Free Tutorial Tuesday: Dog Bed

With the Christmas season fast approaching, I know you all are probably scrambling to find the "perfect" gifts for your family. With all the hustle and bustle don't forget the furry loved ones! I have a fast and super easy tutorial to bring you today for the beloved dog (or cat!) in your life.
My puppy Jack. Who could get mad at a face like this?!?
My puppy is teething badly right now so I needed a dog bed that if he chewed on it, I wouldn't care. Let me add that he has already ripped to shreds chewed one bed that I spent lots of money on thinking it would last forever. Surprise, surprise, it didn't! lol. After throwing lots of ideas around in my head I came up with a great bed that is easy to make, doesn't require sewing (because who wants to sew EVERYTHING), goes together quick, and doesn't cost a fortune. My 3 year old daughter had a blast helping me make this bed!

Little Things

I'm getting ready to go on the road for a week, and I am one of those people who doesn't have a laptop or a tablet. This makes it kind of hard to do my job, and I wasn't quite ready to cough up the funds to get one just yet. I decided to get myself a big flash drive for the trip so I could at least take my important files with me. Staples has 32 Gig PNY drives on sale for $19.99 through the 17th (tomorrow) and for those of you who don't have any kind of backup for your patterns, I'd suggest you run right out and get one!

If you sign up for their emails, Staples will send you a $5 off $25 coupon this week. I really only needed to get the drive, but since I had the coupon, I decided to see what else I could throw in my cart.

I found these precious Glam Paper Clips and thought they would be perfect for keeping my CKC patterns together. They were on clearance, sign said $1.60, but at the register they rang up for only $.50!! Sweet!!!

I also grabbed a large shipping envelope to ship a last minute order and a bag of gummy worms for the trip. With my coupon, my total was only $21.90.

I left the store feeling like I had really gotten a good deal, but to be honest, it was the cute paperclips that made me grin from ear to ear. It's the little things in life....

Layering through the cold months

This is a post I've been meaning to write for months now. It's so easy to forget when you live on the warm, beautiful southern coastline that other parts of the country are freezing! Reality hit home this week though, when I realized I have to pack my family up and head to the frigid North for Thanksgiving.  All these cute little outfits I've made for Abby, and how will I make them work in the cold? It's actually pretty easy...Layering.

A Giveaway and the Quilts of Quilt Market

There were thousands of gorgeous quilts at Quilt Market, and to be perfectly honest, there's no rhyme or reason to these photos. I just took shots of whatever caught my eye. I didn't think to record the name of each booth while taking pictures, so hopefully you can just enjoy the beauty without all of the information!

More Quilt Market Love

I've been home a week now and I'm still trying to process all the beautiful things I got the privilege of seeing at Quilt Market. I really was overwhelming. I only got to see about a third of the booths there, and I really can't convey the sensory overload I experienced on the market floor. Here are a few more photos so you can see a bit of what I'm talking about:

Here's our Elena's dress on display at the Moda booth.

Boutique Basics: How To Price Products

Shannon here and I'm baaaaaack for another installment of Boutique Basics where I help boutique owners learn the business of owning a boutique! This week we are going to be discussing something we get asked about a lot and we all HATE figuring it out: pricing products properly. So let's put our big girl pants on as well as our thinking caps and get down to business. I suggest you don't just skim over this article either; get out some paper and a pencil and really work on this. You will be thankful when it's all over and you have a plan in place for properly figuring out the pricing of your products.

Quilt Market Fairy Godmothers and More

We have to admit...we were a little intimidated going to Quilt Market for the first time. After all, we were the new kids on the block. We didn't know what to expect or how people would receive us. We know our Facebook fans who follow us for our PDFS are an incredible group of people who always support us, but we also knew that the people attending Quilt Market largely come from a whole different crowd and our successes in the PDF pattern world meant little in this arena.

Enter Our Quilt Market Fairy Godmothers.
Yes, that's right. We are lucky enough to have more than one.
First, Pat Bravo, owner of Art Gallery Fabrics.
