Exciting News...

I feel like we always have exciting news, but we never get to actually share it.
This time is different though. Kinda. We have someone new and exciting that we're bringing on to blog with us. I can't say who....and I can't say what she'll be talking about. I want her to be able to tell you all herself!

You will find out soon though! As in next week! Yippee!

Oh Holy Bananas!

Just noticed in our stats we are getting a lot of hits here from a pin on Pinterest!

Cool, I thought, I wonder which one of our pins are bringing people here.

That's when I saw it. This glorious pin. With a grand total of 1562 pins. Say what?

As soon as I saw that picture I HAD to make one and now I'm SO glad I did! Not only are people loving the free tute, but I see fabric tutus popping up everywhere now! Of course, I didn't invent the fabric tutu, but I'd like to think Create Kids Couture had our hand in making it somewhat popular. Although, I admit, we certainly couldn't have done it without our fans and probably even not without Pinterest. lol.

Keep on Pinning,
Shannon

Project Run and Play

Okay so who here loves Project Runway?
If you are anything like me you love yourself some Project Runway. I have a nice routine of waiting until the season is over to watch a full marathon in one day so there is no waiting to see what happens next. I don't do well with waiting. lol. I have always secretly dreamed of being on Project Runway, but let's face it, I'm no Christian Siriano. Fierce. I just make kids clothes and I couldn't compete with what they do. So imagine my surprise when I came across Project Run and Play.

What Project Run and Play, you ask?
Oh, only the BEST blog. Ever!
I *think* you know where I am heading with this....think Project Runway meets kids clothes. Amazing designers, amazing creations, competition, giveaways, prizes...can you hear my exitement?!? Breathe. I've sat back and watched and I gotta hand it to all the designers, they continually amaze me with some seriously inspiring creations!

If you haven't heard of Project Run and Play, I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. Blame me. I've been keeping this little gem to myself. The more people that know, the harder its gonna be for ME (and I guess Tiffany because I drag her into everything, lol) to get into it next season! lol.
Oh, by the way, if you go there tonite, you can see Create Kids Couture (that's us! lol) is the sponsor and you can comment to win a free 3 pattern pack. So, get off here and hop over there! Be sure to follow them, you won't regret it! Oh and tell them who sent ya! Please and Thank You.

Exciting News...

Hi! Remember us? You know....Tiffany and Shannon ?!?

Ugh...It's been a long, long week since we last posted. I *think* about blogging everyday, if only I could telepathically write my blogs OR maybe if you guys could learn to read my thoughts, it would be even easier for me! lol.

Anyway...in case you missed it, we released our much anticipated mix and match line! So far so good! People seem to be liking it--not that we were worried thanks to daily inquiries of when it was going to be available--and we can't wait to see your creations rolling in! There is nothing like a little customer sew-n-tell to brighten our days and inspire us even more!

Marissa's Perfect Peasant Dress and Shasta's Apron Set

We are also going to be having a 5000 Fan Celebratory Giveaway with our friend Kristine over at Positively Whimsy. If you haven't checked out her work by the way, its a must see! She is one of the best hair accessories shops on the web in our opinion....which our opinions are always right. lol. The giveaway will begin on Monday and we already have lots of great boutiques participating! If you would like to join in the fun and donate (note: its a great way to gain NEW fans) then please email Tiffany and myself at CreateKidsCouture@gmail.com for more info.

Now...onto the BEST news yet!
After careful thought and consideration, Tiffany and I have decided to lower the prices in our shop! Woohoo! Even though we are still selling patterns like crazy (actually, we had our most orders ever in one day yesterday) we wanted to thank you guys somehow for being so so amazing and whats better than lower prices? Oh yeah, lower prices that will last forever! lol. So take a minute...or an hour....to check out our new prices!

Happy Sewing!

Fan of the Month

This is totally a day late and I'm sorry but I think I have a good excuse. As it would just so happen, I was sitting in my living room on Monday, working on putting together the tutu for our Free Tutorial Tuesday, when my daughter started screaming, crying, and grabbing her nose. She was laying on the floor watching tv right in front of me so I just assumed she scratched the inside of her nose...that is until I felt something hard in her nose. Ut-oh. We had to take her to the doctor to get a bead removed from the inside of her nose. She was a trooper considering it took 4 adults to pin her little 2 year old body down--she is similiar in strength to The Hulk when she is upset--and we all probably lost a little hearing...but, yeah, she's a trooper. Anyway, this is why the tutorial yesterday was so late and why I completely forgot about posting this.

Onto the good stuff: Fan of the Month. Last month, we had you like a post on our Facebook Fan Page in order to qualify, this week we are going to have you follow our blog. If you are already following our blog, you can leave now because you are already qualified! YES! If you are not following us yet, then go to the right of the screen where you see a bunch of thumbnail pics of people's faces and do whatever it says to follow us!

We will choose one lucky winner at 9pm EST and they will win a FREE single pattern of their choice. How easy is that?!? Good luck and *thank you for being a friend* (sing to the tune of the Golden Girls theme song) lol. Don't act like you didn't love them.

Free Tutorial Tuesday

***WELCOME to everyone visiting from Pinterest! This tutorial went viral and we sincerely hope you enjoy it! When you're through, click HERE and you can view all of our other free tutorials for children's clothes!***

If you are like us, you are *obsessed* with Pinterest right now. lol. We are always looking on there for new ideas or techniques to use in our pattern shop and that is how we hit the scrap fabric lotto this weekend!
If you are like us you have an obscene amount of scraps from all of your sewing projects. What to do with all these scraps? I don't know about you, but I can only do so many patchwork outfits. Cue Pinterest and this adorable pin I came across.

Ummmmm...how cute is this? Its a tutu made of fabric! Best of all, it doesn't require large amounts of any one  fabric so you can be totally *crazy* (watch out! lol) and use a bunch of different fabrics for an eclectic look, or you can used a few of the same fabrics if you want to be matchy-matchy. This tutu is so fast to put together and...its NO-SEW! This tutorial is for all our fans who can't sew. You're welcome. lol.

Boutique of the Month

Create Kids Couture is excited to announce Tutu Precious as our January Boutique of the Month! We've actually known Tiffany for about a year through Facebook. She is one of the nicest boutique owners we know and boy, can she do some amazing things with tulle!

Pettirompers from Tutu Precious. How cute are these???
We interviewed Tiffany a few days ago and we had so much fun chatting back and forth! She also gave some great advice to new boutique owners. Read the entire interview below...

Policy on Using Our Photos

This is one post we really never thought we'd have to write...I guess that was naive of us and we apologize for that. It has come to our attention recently that our photos are being used on boutiques pages showing off the patterns they have access to. In the past, as long as they gave us credit, we were okay with it; however, after recent events and careful consideration we have decided to NOT allow this anymore.

We request that if you own any of our patterns, you first create an outfit made using that pattern and post pictures of your outfit on your page. I know it is tempting to use our photos and to post pictures of fabrics you have so your customers can pick out there own outfits, however it is just not fair to anyone. If they are a first time customer, they may not be familiar with your sewing and they may be expecting a quality they are not receiving. Your customers could also choose the fabrics off your site and just not like the way they came together--customers can be picky that way. lol. Additionally, sometimes customers want exactly what they see and it can be oh-so-tempting to accommodate. The thing about our pictures are the majority of them came from our personal boutiques (Dashingly Dainty Designs and Whimsical Willows Couture) as well as our testers personal boutiques, probably where we are selling that exact outfit! In the end, not only would you be stealing a photo from our pattern shop, but you are also stealing potential customers from someone else's boutique which becomes a huge problem! In the end, you are not giving credit where credit is due. Tiffany and I work hard to create our designs AND our outfits. We hand pick photographers and sometimes models for our outfits. Yes, it really stinks having to send out outfits to photographers for free, BUT that is why our pictures are so great. When you use our pictures without our permission, not only are you hurting yourself, but you are also hurting your customers, us (and even our customers if you are using one of our customers photos), and our photographers.

We WILL allow you to use our pictures when you post a link. For example, "Look at this cute new pattern I bought from Create Kids Couture today! Pictures coming soon of my newest creation using this pattern <3 (insert link to pattern)" Again, things of this nature is allowed AND encouraged. We want you to share our patterns and be excited about them. We do not want you stealing credit for our hard work.

Starting tomorrow, January 10, 2012, this will completely go into effect. That should give you time to remove any photos of ours that are not being used properly as described above. If you have any questions regarding the use of our pictures feel free to email us! We are more than happy to discuss everything more thoroughly and clarify anything that could be confusing!

Thank you everyone for understanding!

Love,
Shannon and Tiffany
